The first step to a dream career is to show up! Over 255 career seekers and 51 actively hiring businesses and community partners showed up to connect at this year’s Hiring Event at WorkSource Central Basin in Moses Lake. Career seekers were instructed to dress for success, and to bring copies of their resume so that they could apply for quality positions on the spot.

The host of La Pera Radio TV, Raphael Aguilar, was on location to broadcast the event. He interviewed multiple employers and shared some of the current opportunities for career seekers to explore at the hiring event. The burgeoning electric vehicle battery industry is rife with opportunities with area employers, Group 14 Technologies and Sila Nanotechnologies. And Genie is on the search for manufacturing and maintenance technicians and welders to support the ongoing demand for their signature blue work lifts.

The SkillSource table is a great stop for all career seekers. SkillSource provides training services to help people get the education and skills they need for a great career, and works with businesses to help find and train local talent. SkillSource can help bridge gaps in skills through basic education, workshops, and connections to on-the-job training to develop critical skills that employers need.

The Hiring Event was a collaboration between WorkSource partners: SkillSource, OIC of Washington, Employment Security Department, and Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. We are grateful to everyone who showed up to help make dreams come true for career seekers, and the employers who want to hire them!
