Shared Purpose in Motion

May 20, 2025 – A dedicated group of workforce professionals and community partners boarded a van in Moses Lake for a full-day tour spotlighting the many services available to residents in Grant County. Organized in collaboration with WorkSource Central Basin partners, the tour offered a firsthand look at the breadth of resources available to individuals navigating employment, education, housing, and health challenges.

The day began with visits to cornerstone agencies housed within the WorkSource Central Basin One-Stop Center, including SkillSource, the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, and OIC of Washington. These partners deliver employment support, training opportunities, and wraparound services designed to meet people where they are.

From there, the tour made its way to Renew for a conversation around behavioral health services, and to Catholic Charities, where attendees learned about housing assistance, family support, and aid for vulnerable populations.

Additional stops included the Moses Lake Food Bank, Big Bend Community College’s Workforce Education Services program, Columbia Basin Job Corps, and Kids Hope/New Hope — each reinforcing the region’s commitment to community care and career development.

In the afternoon, the group visited HopeSource to explore local housing and homeless support services, before wrapping the day with a comprehensive overview at the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), including DCYF, HCS, and DDA.

“These van tours help build relationships amongst partners,” said one participant. “We’re all serving the same community in different ways. Seeing the work up close and meeting the actual people inside each agency helps us coordinate better, refer smarter, and support stronger.”

Community support is a team effort, and when local agencies take the time to hop in a van and explore resources, that team effort leads to real wins.
